Hello!

I’m Mary Elisabeth — a freelance editor — and I’m glad you’re here.

Your story matters
and deserves to be told. . .

Every one of us has an important story to share. Stories that connect children in starving countries with a future and stage IV cancer patients with hope. Stories that make us laugh, make us cry, and expand our way of thinking, even a little.

Stories that change the world.

I believe in your story — just like I believe that, for your story to have the biggest impact, it has to be told well.

. . .but your story is more than just words

When you tell stories, your words matter. But so do your commas, your sources, and even your white spaces. Good editing analyzes all those details — like when to use an em dash instead of a comma — to tell your story in the most effective way, without compromising its heart.

I’m looking for my next story to tell, and I’d love for it to be yours.

How can I help tell your story?

Each element of your story is important — but your story’s heart is you.

Its heart is what will connect with the audience, and its heart is what I’ll use as my own guide on our journey together.

Of course, I’ll check for grammar, punctuation, flow, accuracy, and stylistic preferences along the way. These editorial “basics” are key to improving comprehension and building trust with your reader or customer. But I will always keep your essence or your company’s vision intact — because even the most technically accurate story isn’t compelling if it has no heart … if it has no you.
